Vitamin D deficiency linked to Depression

Studies have linked Vitamin D deficiency as one of the root cause of Depression. Poor vitamin D status brings about a rise in serum parathyroid hormone levels  which contributes to depressive state. mostly noted are the depressive people excercise less and stay indoors with unhealthy diet. This Sunshine Vitamin, as Vitamin D is usually called are also found in milk, tuna, salmon, mackerel, beef liver, cheese and egg yolks.

In dermatology, Vitamin D is said to replenishes hydration and boosts elasticity, helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles, enhances the skin’s radiance, and helps correct sun damage and dark spots."

The Institute of Medicine recently raised the recommended daily intake to 600 IU for people aged 1-70 and to 800 IU for adults older than 70.
